Voter Registration Information
Residents WHO ARE 18 Years old and a US citizen can register to vote at City Hall during regular business hours (Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm). Two (2) forms of identification are required - one showing the current address. Examples of forms for identification purposes are: photo ID, driver's license, state ID, passport, or first class mail. Naturalized citizens must show proof of naturalization at the time of registration. Registration closes thirty (30) days before an election and reopens two (2) days following an election.
Early Voting
Illinois voters can now cast their ballots before Election Day at designated locations without having to provide a reason or excuse. In an effort to prevent vote fraud and double voting, state law requires early voters to display valid identification to an election official before receiving a ballot to vote early. Valid forms of ID include: a current driver's license, state-issued ID card or another government-issued ID with a photograph.
For additional information regarding early voting and locations, visit the Cook County Clerk's website at www.voterinfonet.com. Please note, Prospect Heights City Hall is not a designated polling place for absentee or early voting.
Absentee Voting
- Mail-in absentee voting
Absentee ballot applications are available at City Hall or download an application from the Cook County Clerk's website at voterinfonet.com
- In-person absentee voting
You may also vote absentee in person at one of the County Clerk's offices (the regional courthouse mini-centers or 69 W. Washington in downtown Chicago) if you have a conflict with Election Day. Call 312) 603-0906 for more information.
