Holiday Tree Collection & Chipping Program CITY OF PROSPECT HEIGHTS HOLIDAY TREE COLLECTION & CHIPPING PROGRAM The City of Prospect Heights Annual Holiday Evergreen Tree Collection and Chipping Program has been announced by Mayor Dolores Vole. The details of the program which begins January 4, 2010 and ends January 20, 2010 are as follows: Ornaments, lights, tinsel, nails & stands must be removed from Evergreen trees before placing them at the roadside or they will not be collected by the city. Trees should be placed with the trunk end towards the street. TREES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN PLASTIC BAGS. WREATHES ARE NOT ACCEPTED IN THIS PROGRAM. Pick up schedule will be as follows for single family homes: Week 1 - Trees MUST BE at roadside ON Monday, January 4, 2010. Trees will be picked up Tuesday 1/5 and Wednesday 1/6 Week 2 - Trees MUST BE at roadside ON Monday, January 11, 2010. Trees will be picked up Tuesday, 1/12 and Wednesday 1/13 Week 3 - Trees MUST BE at roadside ON Monday, January 18, 2010. Trees will be picked up Tuesday, 1/19 and Wednesday 1/20 Multiple family units will follow the same schedule, with a designated drop-off site to be determined by the management of the various apartment/condo complexes, and then communicated by FAX to the City of Prospect Heights Public Works Foreman at 847-459-0618. Holiday Evergreen trees will not be accepted in our Collection and Chipping Program after January 20, 2010; but may be put out with your regular trash pick-up after that date. ALL WREATHES WILL BE PICKED UP WITH REGULAR TRASH. Evergreen tree mulch is excellent for soil enrichment, particularly around acid-loving plants such as evergreens and rhododendrons. In addition to providing needed nutrients to plants, mulch helps plants retain moisture in summer months and prevents ground from freezing during winter months. Residents interested in EVERGREEN MULCH ONLY should call 847-398-6070 x 211 MONDAY-THURSDAY 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM for pick-up location.
