***2026-27 Vehicle Sticker Renewal Forms have been mailed out. Once you receive your renewal form, you can purchase vehicle stickers online, through the mail, or at City Hall (in person or via the white drop box)***

Instructions on Renewing a Vehicle Sticker or Motorcycle Tag at City Hall

You should receive your renewal form in the mail. PLEASE BRING YOUR RENEWAL FORM WITH YOU IF YOU COME TO PAY IN PERSON. Vehicles and motorcycles can be renewed online until March 31st. After March 31st, vehicles and motorcycles can only be renewed in person at City Hall. Bring your renewal form and payment to City Hall, 8 N. Elmhurst Road. 

Changes to vehicles cannot be made online. Please make the changes directly on the renewal form and mail it to the City, or come in person to City Hall, and staff will assist you

Instructions on renewing your Vehicle Sticker Online

To renew a vehicle sticker online, please see below.
  
1) Go to the City’s Xpress Bill Pay Website - Click Here For Xpress Bill Pay
2) Log in to your existing account or create a new account if you don’t already have one
3) Click on the City of Prospect Heights link
4) Select Licenses Renewals and enter your account number (located on your renewal form under the barcode) and your last name on the renewal form.
5) Click Locate Account
6) Click the Add Account button
7) The screen will display your current vehicle and pet license numbers and the amount owed for renewal
8) Click Pay Now

Please allow up to 10 business days for vehicle stickers to arrive in the mail after purchase.

Instructions on Purchasing a NEW Vehicle Sticker or Motorcycle Tag

Newly acquired vehicles must be registered with the City within 30 days and display a valid Prospect Heights vehicle sticker/motorcycle tag. To purchase a vehicle sticker/motorcycle tag for a NEW vehicle/motorcycle, click the Download a Vehicle Sticker Application link below and return the completed form with payment to City Hall, 8 N. Elmhurst Road.

10-1-3: VEHICLE LICENSE REQUIRED; APPLICATION:

A. Each owner of a motor vehicle registered with the Secretary of State of Illinois to an address or PO Box within the jurisdiction of the City of Prospect Heights or residing in the city shall obtain a license and pay an annual license fee as set forth in this chapter. All owners of motor vehicles residing in the city and all owners of passenger vehicles which have their situs or base in the city regardless of where such owner resides shall obtain a license and pay the appropriate fee for such motor vehicle.


B. Each owner of a vehicle (as classified in section 10-1-2 of this chapter) which has its situs or base in the city shall obtain a license and pay an annual license fee as set forth in this chapter for the use of such vehicle in the city. For purpose of this section the "situs or base" of a  vehicle shall mean the location where such vehicle is garaged or most regularly parked when not in use by its operator.
