Natural Resources Commission

Overview

The mission of the Natural Resources Commission is to preserve, protect and restore natural areas and raise awareness of environmental issues affecting Prospect Heights. Guiding the community in natural open space preservation efforts and encouraging private land owners to adopt land management practices that protect and enhance natural resources. Promoting community awareness and education of environmental issues affecting Prospect Height's natural resources, such as animal habitat, storm water management, and the threat of invasive species.

The Natural Resources Commission is an all-volunteer network designed to enhance, restore and manage the natural areas and resources in order to maintain and improve their ecological health and biodiversity. At the moment, they are restoring wildlife habitat and biodiversity to the slough, a historically important wetland in the heart of our community. Future plans include prairie restoration along the Prospect Heights bike path.

Every other Sunday throughout the year, work events are conducted where volunteers come together to participate in these restoration projects. All volunteers are welcome. For more information, follow the NRC on Facebook or visit their website at www.phnrc.com.
